Janet Rutkowski is a native New Yorker. Her works have been exhibited in numerous exhibitions and sculpture sites throughout the USA, among them HP Garcia Gallery, New York, Bethel Outdoor Sculpture Grounds, Woodstock, New York, the Sculpture Grounds Park in Old Lyme CT, and the Sculptors Guild Plaxall Gallery installation, “The Politics of Space”, Long Island City, New York. Her work has been installed in numerous private parks and collections, including her commission for Sullivan County’s World Trade Center Memorial.
In the artist's words, “The power if art is within each of us. It is the power of transformation, of the mundane into the divine. I seek to incorporate that presence, that spirit, into every piece I create.” She works in many materials including wood, clay and stone, and created Peligroso, in her professed favorite medium of welded steel.
